Projekt Upgrade 7 Tesla MRI

7T MRI is brought up to the state of the art

The aim of the upgrade was to bring the 7T MRI, which is more than 15 years old, up to the current state of the art with the help of the requested upgrade. The 7T MRI was transferred from the Leibniz Institute of Neurobiology (LIN) to Otto von Guericke University (OVGU). At the time, the device was the first ultra-high field MRI in Germany and has enabled the LIN and its partners (OVGU and DZNE) to advance to the national and international forefront of neurobiological research in non-invasive human imaging. According to the recommendations of the International Evaluation Commission (LIN), it is essential for keeping the top position in research that this large-scale research device is state of the art in technology and science. This has now been done following the upgrade. This measure will enable the OVGU to continue its successful research at an internationally competitive level. The imaging methods contribute significantly to the profile of the entire location and the imaging site attracts scientists from all over the world.

The project was funded by the European Regional Development Fund EFRE.
